March 15th marks the 43rd year of National Agricultural Day. The theme for National Ag Day in 2016 is "Agriculture: Stewards of a Healthy Planet." This day has been a celebration of our nations farmers, ranchers, and others involved in the agricultural field. (Pun intended.) Not only is it a celebration of these people and what they do, but it has also been set aside in order to educate the public about agriculture and all it has to offer.
Knowledge about these four main ideas can allow individuals to make informed personal choices about diet, health, and nutrition and even allow citizens to participate in establishing policies in the agricultural industry. As college students, it is also important to keep in mind the wide variety of careers that pertain to the agricultural field such as food science, engineering, careers in sustainability, farm production, and many more.
