How many of us are familiar with National Nutrition Month? Each March, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics encourages Americans to return to their healthful eating habits for a healthy, and longer life through National Nutrition Month. This academy first initiated this tradition in 1973 as a week-long event, which eventually grew to be a month-long event in 1980. The Academy’s President stresses the importance of nutrition education as part of a successful, healthy life.
In Iowa, there is a group of registered dietitian nutritionists working with schools through a Nutrition Grant to help parents and students learn the importance of healthy eating being linked to academic success. Do you want to be academically successful? Besides long hours of studying, a healthy-diet helps you develop intellectually. Let’s begin making healthy choices, and live a healthier, longer life.
