The American Red Cross organization started back in 1881 when it was founded by Clara Barton. She started this organization during the Civil War to help soldiers. Barton was then given the name of Angel of the Battlefield. Ever since the 1900’s, the American Red Cross has been asked by the government to help soldiers and their families.
The American Red Cross helps with donation of blood, teaching those about health and safety, as well as providing support for families of the military and those affected by disasters.
If you’re thinking that this sounds like a good thing to join, then here are a few ways you can help. You can donate your blood to those in need as well as volunteering at your local center to help the organization run more smoothly. Any participation you can give is welcomed.
