A box white text box should be present below the smiley face in the chat box. Enter your name in that box and click enter.
If a box is not present, it is because a librarian is not currently available for chat reference.
Once you enter your name, please type and submit a question. We will not know you have entered that chat until you ask a question.
If no one responds to your question immediately, try resubmitting it. The librarian may be away from the desk or helping another person with a reference question. If after a couple of minutes and submitting your question twice you do not get an answer, please try one of the other services to the right of the chat box on the "Need Help?" page
